Greenville - On Thursday June 10th, 2021, June Tanner Griffin passed away from all of us to her eternal home with everlasting peace and comfort with her savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

June was born on January 8, 1930 in Spartanburg County and attended Mary Baldwin College and Converse College. June was married (August 6th, 1948) for 67 years to the one and only love of her life, her predeceased husband, Joel Ross Griffin. June and Joe were blessed with two amazing children—Cynthia Griffin Wynkoop of Greenville and Joel Colyer Griffin (Leslie) of Cashiers, N.C., and two incredible grandchildren—Margaret Griffin Moore (Caison) and William Edward Wynkoop. June is predeceased by her mother Margaret Pearl Tanner, her father Colyer Burnett Tanner and her brother Reginald Colyer Tanner, and her late husband Joe.

June was one of a kind, and not just to her family. Her kindness and generosity toward others and willingness to invest in others and causes that mattered was remarkable. Whether it be her church, First Presbyterian in Spartanburg, the Flower Guild, Sanctuary Guild, Needle Pointers Club or Mobile Meals—June gave of her time, her money and mostly her skills. She was devoted to her church and many community organizations (Spartanburg Regional Foundation, Regional Mountain View Nursing Home, Women's Shelter Board). She was a master gardener and was always known and sought out for her magical Rose bud touch. June could simply walk by a Rose bush and touch its stem and nature would abound.

June was one of the strongest and wisest women we knew. Her tall stature, elegant walk, and graceful manner left you in awe, yet her wit and grit left you knowing her inner strength. June never put herself first and asked for little. June was both sweet and bold, and always promoted, encouraged and would often whisper words that would instill confidence in her children and grandchildren. Her intelligence and gentleness are a rare combination. June was bold in her love and mastered being subservient to her husband and others. June defined a devoted wife, and helped Joe start Griffin Gear in Roebuck SC in 1966, and helped shape its growth and success through her bookkeeping skills and care and concern for the many employees who worked with them.

June Griffin was a real life example to her family and so many that your life matters, your words matter and your love for others matters most.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1:00PM in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, following a private family burial. The family will receive friends following the service in the Perrin Room.

In remembrance of June, memorials can be made to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg; 419 E. Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29302, Spartanburg Regional Foundation; 101 E. Wood St., Spartanburg, SC 29303, or the charity of one's choice.
