Barbara Elizabeth Cooper, 85, of Bennington, NE, passed Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Arbor Care Center-Valhaven in Valley, NE.
Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer, NE with Reverend Vincent Parsons officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton, NE.
Barbara was born August 8, 1936 to Henry and Frances (Vana) Santin in Grand Island.
She grew up on the family farm outside of Clarks. She graduated from Clarks High School in 1954.
On September 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to O'Dell "Curly" Cooper in Indiana. To this union, two children were born: Gary and Linda.
They lived in Indiana for a few years before moving to Bennington, NE, where she resided until four years ago when she went into assisted living in Elkhorn.
She enjoyed spending time outdoors doing lawn work and gardening. She loved spending time with her lady friends and playing cards. She also enjoyed her dogs, especially Dixie, who always went to the farm with her. Even though Barb left the farm early in her adult years, she always had a strong tie to her farm background and always considered the farm in Clarks her home.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Cathy) Cooper of Valley and Linda Cooper of Omaha; three grandchildren, Cary (Josh Goth) Cooper, Carisa (Jeremy) Ward, and Carin (Jamie Torres) Cooper; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delores Santin of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, O'Dell Cooper; her parents; and brothers, Donald Santin Sr. and Henry (Eley) Santin Sr.
