Virginia Powell Mitchell, 94, of Rustburg, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. She was the wife of the late Sonnie F. Mitchell, Jr. and daughter of John Leslie and Sarah Elizabeth Powell. In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in passing by her brothers, Robert, Wilson, and Howard Powell, and her sisters, Jennie Freeman and Doris Wooldridge. Daughter-in-law Donna Mitchell and Son-in-law Mark Braswell

Jinny started her career at The Old Lynchburg Cotton Mill and later retired from Craddock Terry Shoe Corp. Jinny was a loving woman with enduring faith.

She is survived by her seven children, Marie Tweedy (Marvin), Frank Mitchell (Kay), David Mitchell (Donna), Warren Mitchell, Ann Tice (Dennis), Debbie Cash (Sam), and Janet Braswell Ashby (Jeff). Thirteen grandchildren, Keith Tweedy, Jennifer Johnson (Stuart), Julie Blakely (Tracy), Melanie Kiger (Chris), Shelly Freeman (Dan), Adam Clark, Michelle Marino, Melissa Mitchell, Shanon Mitchell, Kimberly Morgan (Warrick), Dee Cash, Meagan Hall (W.T.), and Nathan Braswell. Along with eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, she is also survived by brother-in law Preston Mitchell (Lynn) and sister-in-law Anne Mitchell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Debbie Cash.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Wesleybury United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3071 Theta Mill Rd., Gladys, by the Rev. Ray McGarr.
