Theodore J. Wiker, 73, of Millheim, passed from this life on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born on October 14, 1940 in Rohrerstown, PA, Ted was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy Aston Wiker. He was a graduate of Hempfield High School. On November 15, 1975, Ted was united in marriage to Regina K. Leitch who survives at their home in Millheim.
In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by one daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson. Also surviving are one sister and two brothers. Ted was preceded in death by one son Kristopher Wiker in 2004 and siblings, Paul Wiker and Elaine Walter.
Ted proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. He was employed as the manager of the former Hills Department Store with over 20 years of service, until he was forced to retire due to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Ted was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Millheim Fire Co, and a one time member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making many rocking horses. He also created a special replica for the Millheim Bicentennial of one of Millheim's historic buildings. After his illness became too debilitating, Ted went to live at Valley View Haven in Belleville, where the caring staff provided a home away from home.
Family and friends will be received at the Steven R. Neff Funeral Home in Millheim on Wednesday, June 18 from 1-2 pm. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dan Shreckengast officiating. Ted will be laid to rest in Woodward Cemetery.
