Charles "Charlie" Upton, age 81, of Norman, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021.
He was born on November 2, 1939, in Alice Texas, the son of David James Upton and Mary Elizabeth McGuire Upton. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jessie Bush; his great-granddaughter, Madison Bush; his parents; three brothers, Jay Upton, Bill McGuire, and Jimmy Upton; and two sisters, Dell Cates and Carolyn Upton.
He attended the Gates of Praise and Mount Calvary in Glenwood and was a truck driver for many years, working mainly in the log woods. He enjoyed gardening, loved to go fishing and was a true animal lover. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, who he dearly loved. Charlie will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Shirley Upton of Norman; four sons and three daughters-in-law; two daughters and one son-in-law; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law; one sister and brother-in-law; his special dogs, Patches, Jake and Missy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charlie will be held in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood, with a date to be announced in two to three weeks.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
