A native of Marion County, he was born October 5, 1884 and was a son of the late Anderson and Margaret (Mahaffey) Reed.
He moved to Canaan Valley with his family when he was a child and was a lifelong cattleman and farmer in that area.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Addie (Yokum)Reed, five sons, W. Dave Reed, Elkins; Lindsey Reed Jr, Fairmont; Kelly Reed, Akron; Marvin and Randall Reed, Columbus, Ohio.
Also four daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Adams, Doylestown, Pa.; Mrs. Ina Grecco, Thomas; Mrs. Nellie Crossland, Davis; Mrs. Margaret Gainer, Akron, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Helmick, Richmond; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Spiggle-Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis, where a service will be conducted in the chapel at 2 p. m. tomorrow by Rev. Harry Atzenhofer, pastor of Davis Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Canaan Valley.
