Paul Joseph Layton, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, September 17, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

He served in the US Air Force as an airplane mechanic and was a route man for Franklin Baking Company. Mr. Layton was a native of Alexandria, VA and was the son of the late Nellie Rosena Kesner Layton and George Emory Layton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley Layton and David Layton.

A graveside service will be held 10: 00 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. The Rev. Daniel Pate will officiate.

The family will receive friends after the service.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Daniels Layton; son, Ricky L. Layton (Rhonda) of Lillington; granddaughter, Kelly Layton; great-grandson, Kaleb Matthews; brother; Emory Layton of Alexandria, VA; and sister, Georgia Mahmond of Alexandria.
