Howard Wilson
Jacksonville - Howard Wilson, 87, of Jacksonville passed away September 25, 2021 peacefully at his home.

He was born March 4, 1934 in Morgan County the son of Elfrey and Maggie Oaks Wilson of Jabez, KY.

He married Linda Jeanne Kessinger on May 26, 1984 and she survives.

He is also survived by his 3 children, Debbie (Jim) Beavers of Jacksonville, Alan Wilson of Belleville and Kathy Nichols of Jacksonville; 4 granddaughters, Amber (Chris) Ashmore, Jessi (Greg) Nelson, Breann Nichols (fiance', David Brott) and Dakota (Mike) Chumley; 5 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Dylan, Dominic, Maddie and Violet and several nieces and nephews, including Patti (Joe) Saxer of Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Woodrow, James, Ellis, Elza and Henry Wilson, Millie Morris and Margaret Jobe. He was the seventh son of the seventh son, that never met his Dad.

Howard worked at the Bowling Alley and Winstead's Restaurant at the age of 14. He served in the United States Army in Kitzingen, Germany during the Korean Conflict at age 17. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked at Allis Chalmer in Springfield and Superior & Baked Goods in Bloomington. He then moved back to Jacksonville and took a position at Mrs. Tucker's (also known as Anderson Clayton and Kraft) as a Votator Operator in shortening for 25 years and then as a pest control operator until his retirement for a total of 34 years.
Howard enjoyed camping at the Starlight Camping Club, boating, fishing, pitching horseshoes at the Moose and in the Illinois State Tournament, winning it in 1989, bowling, softball, golfing, where he was proud to have made a hole in one at the Links Golf Course in Jacksonville ,traveling, spending time with his buddies and his beloved cocker spaniels, Corky and Jake.

A private service will be held with burial at Antioch Cemetery near Alexander. Memorials are suggested to PAWS. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements.
