Robert "Bob" Donald Carr Sr., age 87 of New Carlisle, IN passed away at home on Thursday, September 9, 2021. He was born on April 10, 1934 in Gary, IN to William and Betty (Yanko) Carr.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice (Ray) Carr; daughter, Debbie Perzo; step-son, John Clark; sister, Patricia Bryant; brother, Jerry Shuttz; granddaughters, Katie Carr, Christine Petro, Anna Gerths; Renae Grace; grandson, Jeremiah Frye; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Tawnee, Kavan, and Britton Head, Colton Cline, Destiny, Faith, Dani, and Reese Frye; great-great-grandsons, Henry and Levi Gerths, Bodhi Johnson, Kaelen Head; nieces, Lea Anne (Rick) Huff, Linda (Larry) Stovall. He was preceded in death by his father, William Carr; mother, Betty Ann Carr; son, Robert "Rob" Carr, Jr; step-son, Scott McDonald-Clark; former spouse of 43 years, Mildred Carr.
Bob was raised on Lake Michigan and always loved the water. He enjoyed fishing and boating. Bob was an electrician for over 55 years and was a member of Electrical Union 697. He was a Master Mason and proud Past Master of Calumet Lodge 379, a member of the Scottish Rite, Shriners, and Eastern Star. Bob was looking forward to retiring with the Coast Guard Auxiliary after his 15 years of service. Bob joined the Auxiliary in 2008. He was a member of Flotilla 85 where he served as the Materials Officer and later transferred to Flotilla 81 along with his Flotilla 85 shipmates. Bob was a recipient of the Coast Guard Unit Commendation three times. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, visiting parks across the country, and especially taking cruises.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 12:00 pm EST at Community Christian Church of New Carlisle, 201 W. Michigan St., New Carlisle, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 am EST until the time of service at 12:00 pm EST at the church. A Masonic service will be held before the funeral ceremony at 12:00 pm EST.
