Glenn Johnson, 90, of Warren, Minn., died on Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2021 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Glenn Everett Johnson was born January 28, 1931 in Grygla, Minn., the son of Axel and Ethel (Karlstrom) Johnson. He spent his early years in the Gatzke area before moving with his family to the River Farm"near St. Hilaire, Minn., when he was 13. Glenn graduated from Thief River Falls High School in 1949 where he was in choir and lettered in track. He attended vocational school for two years in Thief River Falls. Glenn served in the US Navy from 1952 – 1955 as an electronic technician. After his discharge, he attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. and North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU).

Glenn married Doris Roley on October 2, 1960 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren. They made their home in Warren where he worked at Federal Land Bank (started in 1959) (which later became Farm Credit) until his retirement. Over the years, Glenn also farmed with his brothers, Grant and Harlow, on the family farm. Doris died on March 4, 2007. Glenn married Ruth Ann Strandberg on October 9, 2011. They made their home in Warren.

He was very active in his community over the years. Glenn was a member of Warren Lions, Warren Senior Citizens Club and the Warren Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was Past Commander and member of the Warren American Legion Post #27 where he proudly served on the Rifle Squad and participated in many military funerals. Glenn was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served and helped in many different capacities over the years. The church was a very important part of his life.

Glenn loved to travel, take drives to check on crops and gardening. He enjoyed gardening so much that after he retired he took a horticulture college class at UMC. Glenn thoroughly enjoyed going to Mt. Carmel Bible Camp by Alexandria, Minn., with family over the years.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ruth Ann; two daughters, Diane Bjorgaard of Grand Forks, N.D. and Emilie (John) Holland of Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jacob Bjorgaard (Julie Schliinz) of Fargo; Katie (Eric) Borns and daughter, Riley of Aberdeen, S.D.; Kristin (Michael) Weber and children, Landon and Claire of Fargo, and Laura (Tobias) Anheluk and children, Holland, Cecilia and Reese of Minnetonka, Minn.; siblings, Grant (Dorothy) Johnson of Windom, Minn., Harlow Johnson of Thief River Falls, and Priscilla Jackson of Viroqua, Wisc.; many nieces and nephews and special family friends, Jim and Belinda Folz and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Ethel; wife, Doris; sister-in-law, Gloria Johnson and brother-in-law, David Jackson.



FUNERAL SERVICE: Private family funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren.
