Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Bill grew up in Midtown and graduated from Central High School. In November of 1969, he enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country. Once his tour was complete, he came back home to Memphis where he would meet and marry the love of his life, Diane. The couple had two children, Jonathan and Elesa. Bill was a hard worker and could fix just about anything. He used his "fix it" gift to work as a welder, reserve police officer and in church maintenance until he retired. He was a member of the American Legion.
Bill was a strong Christian man who deeply loved the Lord, the USA, his family, friends and GUNS! He was a collector, dealer, expert marksman and all-around gun scholar! Bill enjoyed time spent with his buddies and his grandchildren. He had a big heart and showed it in all he did. He was an amazing man and will be greatly missed!
Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Wilson Fletcher; his two children, Jonathan Fletcher (Lane) and Elesa Potter (Scott); his grandchildren, Emma Graves, Lauren Graves, Christian Potter, Luke Fletcher, Riley Fletcher, Sonnie Boone, Maddie Boone, Justin Wilson (Dana Messer) and Meagan Anderson (Seth); his mother in-law, Kathleen Wilson and his sister in-law, Sandy Mahoney.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in the Rotunda at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be given in Bill's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Arrangements entrusted to Brent Taylor-Paul McCarver Funeral Directors.
