John Robert Schroeder Sr., 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. He was a former firefighter for the City of Louisville and retired from Lambert's Distributors, Inc. John was capable of building anything with his hands, enjoyed cooking and was quite the jokester. He loved his dog, Harper, and was fond of his pet cats.
He was born on April 16, 1939 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Robert and Martha (Caress) Schroeder. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Gaddis; and long-time companion, Geraldine Higdon.
John is survived by his sons, John Schroeder Jr. (Angie), Tommy Schroeder (Jenni); sister, Ginny Harvey; grandchildren, Erin Schroeder DMD, Alex Schroeder (Shelby), Tanner Schroeder, Molly Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Ashton Schroeder-Anderson, Rosalyn Schroeder; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved neighbors, the Brown family.
All services will be held privately and John will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
