Mrs. Joan Kathryn Stepp Allen passed away Aug. 22, 2021. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on Dec. 1, 1936. Joan graduated with the Class of 1956 from Russell High School in Russell, KY. The majority of her career was with the Civil Service in Norfolk, VA at the Ocean Terminal. She served her country in the Navy Reserves, and her community as a member of the Newport News Woman's Club. Her church home was Hilton Baptist Church in Newport News, VA.

Joan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, B. Mark and Amy W. Stepp; grandchildren Nicole Marie and Bryan Alexander Stepp; her sister and brother-in-law Anna Mae (Peggy) and Leon Williams; and nieces Susan Kay Williams, Kathy Lynn Williams, and Brenda Gail McMillen. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph K. Allen, and her parents James Louis and Mabel Louise Swindell.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Lynwood will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, Oct. 2. at Hilton Baptist Church, 101 Main St., Newport News, VA. She will be laid to rest in a private family service at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA.
