Edward Roberts reunited with his heavenly father on September 5th, 2021, at 5:15 AM. Ed has had a rich life with experiences most folks could only dream about. Born in 1936, early life found Ed playing and working the family farm in upstate New York, learning practical lessons that would define his diverse career paths. Ed graduated from Perry High School and joined the Army in 1954. Four years later while stationed in Chitose Airbase, Japan, Ed courted and married Yoko Miura, the first love of his life.
With a family in tow and spanning three continents, early career highlights include training electrical engineers; R&D on missile guidance systems; and managing a human resources department in the early days of computerized personnel management. Ed served two distinguished one-year tours in Vietnam that culminated with the award of the Bronze Star Medal.
Later in his life you could find Ed programming main frame computer systems in Seattle; emplacing digital communication systems on the North Slope of Alaska; or working communication relay towers in the middle of the Pacific. Ed's talents and keen understanding of physics and technology has taken him around the globe as he reveled in anything that interested him.
2007 saw the departure of Yoko too soon and left a large void in Ed's life. In 2008, he married the second love of his life, Maria Gorospe. Ed and Maria cheerfully shared their life and home with their church family and had once again achieved life's fullness until Maria's untimely passing in late 2020.
Ed's family members that he leaves are all successful and productive citizens of their communities. He was very proud of their life's work and accomplishments. Ed is survived by his sister, Judy Selck; daughters, Maria Dost and Lika Seigel; sons, Tim and Allen Roberts; and a myriad of grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Services for Ed are scheduled for October 2nd 2021 at 11 AM at Northwest Community Church followed by a military honors burial at New Tacoma Cemetery, 9221 Chambers Creek Rd W, University Place, Washington.
