Dr. Philip "Spike" Bergeron, Jr., 92, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 9:55 AM. Born February 11, 1929, he was a native and resident of Thibodaux.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Ordoyne Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Iona Marcello Bergeron; children, Phyllis B. Waguespack, Duane Bergeron (Joanne), Lisa B. Melancon (Randy), Renee' B. Gravois; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Connie B. Long.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip C. Bergeron, Sr. and Annette Beauvais Bergeron; son, Myles Bergeron; 4 brothers, Charles, Cecil, Robert and Richard Bergeron; sister, Jerrie B. Gillaspie.

Philip was a beloved figure at Nicholls State University, dedicating his life to teaching Physical Education, Anatomy and Statistics for 40 years as well as serving as the Dean of Education for 11 years. In his early years he coached at Larose/Cut Off and Thibodaux High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
