LEE, Ruth E., age 71, of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at her residence in Arizona.

Ruth officially retired as a repairman and inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration after approximately 20 years of service. Following her official retirement, she worked security for the Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training and for the sports program at Arizona State University, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved the Lord and was an active member of the Vineyard Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona.

Outgoing, caring, outspoken in a fun way, and energetic, Ruth was called "Channel 2" by her family because she always had the news to share with others. She was helpful and giving, displayed by the volunteer work she participated in every Tuesday at the food pantry with her church. While her kids were growing up, she was active in 4H. She had a love for horses, which she enjoyed while she was growing up, and then introduced her kids and grandkids to during their childhood. Baseball was one of her other passions, which allowed her to enjoy her retirement days ("work") in Arizona. She collected baseball Bobbleheads, Budweiser Christmas Steins, and McDonald's Happy Meal toys, the latter of which she never allowed to be opened or touched by human hands. Among many things, she will be remembered for her delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and her "emergency cookies." She was known to show up at the homes of family and friends with her cookies whenever someone was ill, grieving, having a party or get-together, or going on trips. She even made it tradition to make the cookies with her grandkids, thereby passing her gift of giving on to the next generation.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Hope Lee; her parents Gene Wilcher and Sarah Davenport; and one brother Terry Wilcher. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Carter; two sons Aaron (Marilyn) Burns and Shea (Catherine) Lee; two daughters Loretta (Richard) Keech and Cater Lee; six grandchildren Josh (Sonya) Busam, Brett Keech, Morgan Keech (fiancé Tyce Smith), Christian Burns, Jordan Burns, and Audrey Wenstrom; three great-grandchildren Ryan, Joe, and Harper; four brothers Robert (Dot) Wilcher, Roger (Vicki) Wilcher, Russell (Blanche) Wilcher, and Robin "Barney" (Elaine) Wilcher; sister Reta Ling; her children's father John Burns; and her fur babies Dapper Dan and Marshall Dillon.

Funeral services, to be held at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville, are pending. Burial will be in Middle Run Cemetery, Spring Valley. Bob Keller will be officiating the services. If desired, contributions may be made to Middle Run Cemetery.
