Greenville – Shirley Gaskins Jackson, 85, of Greenville died September 22, 2021 at Vidant Palliative Care in Greenville, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, September 27th at Cardinal Village FWB Church with Rev. Kevin Jackson and Rev. Jason Willaford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The committal will follow the service at 3:00pm at Onslow Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Jackson was a Nurse for 37 years working at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, GA, Craven County Hospital in New Bern, NC, and Onslow Memorial Hospital. She was Office Nurse for the late Dr. Hong Chong. She finished her career as a Home Health and Hospice Nurse. Nursing and taking care of people was her passion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rev. Billy Jackson and a daughter, Pamela Meekins.
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Willaford and her husband, Gentry of Jacksonville; her son, Rev. Kevin Jackson and his wife Debbie of Vanceboro; a son-in-law, Wayne Meekins of Winterville; a sister, Carol Cuthrell of New Bern; 6 grandchildren, Nancy Willaford, Crystal Jones, Jason Willaford, Jessica Ruccius, Emily Pivec and Billy-Wayne Meekins; 10 great grandchildren and one "on the way".
