Leslie (Donny) Donnell Thomas, 63, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on September 19, 2021.

He was born to parents Jewel and Jo-Ann Thomas on May 4, 1958, in Rockford, Illinois. Leslie graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976, where he participated in multiple sports. He moved on to take classes at Northern Illinois University. He was a long time US Postal Service Carrier and also worked at Amerock.

Leslie had a immense love for music. His passion and expertise for playing highlighted his life, filling everyone around him with incomparable joy and pride. He was the founder and bass player of the band Tres Elliott. He traveled the region playing at numerous venues, including performances at Rockford's own "On The Waterfront Festival" and many others.

Donny is survived by his mother Jo-Ann Thomas. His brothers Jewell Thomas, Kirby Thomas and Steven Thomas. His sisters Debby Thomas and Michelle (Michael) Brown. He is also survived by his children Leslie Jr., Corzareus, Bryce, and Kennedy. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friend Debbie and his close friend Duane Tidwell. Donny was predeceased by his father Jewel Thomas, brother Andre Johnston, sister Judy Curry, and his son Christopher Thomas.

Service will be held on Monday September 27, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 200 N. Johnston Ave., with the visitation at 1 p.m
