Bettie Jean Adams Johnston was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on May 6, 1934. She was the only child of O.W. (Jake) and Melvena Adams. She left this world on September 23, 2021. She graduated from Waxahachie High School Class of 1951. She attended East Texas State Teachers College. She married Charles Johnston in 1960 and they had 59 years together. Bettie held many jobs during her lifetime, but her favorite was the 20 years she spent working in Hallmark stores.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles and infant son Mark. She is survived by her children: Steve Bradford (Sandy), Tim Johnston and Paul Johnston, Kathy Hammel (Thomas) and Beverly Howard (Mark). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Jason Bradford, Allison Vaughn, John Bradford, Anne Kochanasz, Ashley Brogan, Michael Johnston, Caleb House, Daniel Howard and Kaylee Howard. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 2, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie located at 505 W. Marvin Ave, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. Bettie donated her body to UT Southwestern Medical School. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the First United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
