Charles Valentine, 80, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday morning, September 19, 2021. He was born in Salinas, Monterey County, California on September 2, 1941, to the late Thomas Russell Valentine and Ruth Oleta (Scott) Valentine.

He met Hoycille Montgomery at Lubbock Christian College and they were married on January 26, 1963, in Kermit, Texas.

Mr. Valentine moved to Lubbock in 1956 from Madras, Oregon with his family. He attended and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1959. After graduating from Lubbock High School, he attended Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech University, graduating in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. After working for advertising agencies in Lubbock, he went out on his own as a commercial artist. Charles, and his wife Hoycille, were instrumental in starting Monterey Church of Christ in 1964. He taught art at Lubbock Christian School for many years and was known to his students as "Mr. Art." He wrote and illustrated bible study guides for Sunset School of Preaching for twelve years and has been a member at Sunset Church of Christ since 1973. As well, he and Hoycille started the childrensbiblestudy.com website in 2001, which contains illustrated textual bible studies, and the website is maintained to this day. He loved to read, travel and swim every chance he got.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sharli Crawford of Plains and Shyll Bowen of Longmont, Colorado; one brother, Tom Valentine of Snyder; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Montgomery and one brother, Steve Valentine.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 11 A. M. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Sunset Church of Christ with Monty Pettyjohn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the Valentine family has requested memorial donations to the Sunset International Bible Institute, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, TX 79410.
