Roger Lloyd Peterson, 89, of Bridgeport, WV went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2021. He was born in Grandy, MN to the late Lloyd Peterson and Mildred (Swanson) Peterson. On June 8, 1956 Roger married Bessie Jo (Johnson) Peterson, who survives in Bridgeport. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister-in-law Sharon Peterson.
Roger is survived by brothers Richard (Donna) Peterson, and Ron Peterson; sons Phillip (Cindy) Peterson, Paul (Sharon) Peterson, and Mark (Brenda) Peterson. He is also survived by grandchildren Kari (Peterson) and Titus Baugus, Stefan and Megan Peterson, Julia Peterson, Kiki (Peterson) and Jared Steiner, David Peterson, Christi (Peterson) and Kyle Playford, John Peterson, Joshua and Megan Peterson, Bekah (Peterson) and Jared Henry, Sarah (Peterson) and Shawn Skinner, Anna (Peterson) Machesky, Elijah Peterson, and Charissa Peterson. Roger also has several great-grandchildren; Malachi Baugus, Bjorn Peterson, Maria Steiner, London Playford, Sophia Henry, Isaiah Henry, Shiloh Henry, Briel Henry, and Felix Machesky.
Roger never met a stranger, and he loved to tell others about Jesus. He was a Pastor at the Fourth Baptist Church and a professor at Central Theological Seminary in Minneapolis Minnesota from 1957-1986. When he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, he was on the board for the Christian Training Foundation where he helped teach and train Pastors all over the world. He attended and served at Kingsway Baptist Church in Lake Wylie, SC. He was also an adjunct professor at Virginia Beach Theological Seminary. For the last three years of his life, he attended Saltwell Road Church. In his spare time, he loved to garden.
Friends will be received at Saltwell Road Church on Monday September 27, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm A funeral service will be at the Church on Tuesday, September 28 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the Saltwell Road Cemetery.
