Emily D. Gilbert, 83, of Vowinckel, died Saturday, Jan., 13, 2018, at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Shippenville.
Born Aug. 20, 1934, in Marienville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Bifano) Asel.
On July 25, 1966, she married James Eck, he preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1987. She later married Robert J. Gilbert on June 30, 1993, he preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2012.
Mrs. Gilbert formerly worked for Stackpole in Kane, IKL in Marienville, and Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville. She was a member of the Veterans Club of Forest County in Marienville.
She enjoyed camping, hunting, and working on word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She loved her dogs.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by three daughters, Kathy Carroll and her husband, Richard, of Vowinckel, Rose Cullip of Sterling, Colorado, and Rhonda K. Wilkenson of Willard, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Alan, Jason, Missy, Jennifer, Shawn, Linda, Amy, Michelle, and Mary Jo; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Ralph Asel and his wife, Bertha, of Cleveland, Ohio, Norman Asel and his significant other, Cheri, of Kane, and Clyde Asel and his wife, Carla, of Kane; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Carol Moore of Marienville.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Danny Eck; and a brother, Richard Asel.
At the family's request a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., Marienville.
Interment will be in Rose's Cemetery, Jenks Township, Forest County.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of the United States
