Honaker, VA – Edna June Sykes Fletcher, age 85 of Chimney Rock Road passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA.
Born in Haysi, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Tilda Edwards Gilbert.
She was owner/operator of Sykes Grocery for over 20 years and was a member of and attended Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Earl Sykes; her second husband Curvin Fletcher; a grandson Adam Compton and siblings Lee Oma Cumbo, Ann Viers and Purdy Gilbert.
Survivors include her children Wade (April Sykes) Sykes of Honaker, VA and Tiesha Sykes of Honaker, VA; grandchildren Jessica (Barton) Wilson of Joelton, TN and Samantha (Brad) Popejoy of New Braunfels, TX; great grandchildren Nicole Wilson and Levi Wilson; and siblings Roy Gilbert, Betty Viers, Frankie Perrigan, Turman Gilbert and Gerlene Mullins
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Barrett McGlothlin, Don Stacy and Jim Duty officiating. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery, Honaker, VA. Pallbearers will be Terry Barton, Steve Barton, Jamie Fletcher, Gary Turner and friends and family.
