Mrs. Ida Mae Holden Russell was born on February 2, 1952 in Utica, Mississippi to Mrs. Ida L. Thomas Holden and the late J. W. Holden.

Ida, affectionately known as "Bay, Bae, Baby Sister, Diva Mom and Granny," was educated within the Vicksburg Public School System. Bay accepted Christ and confessed her faith at an early age.

Because she has a genuine love for people, especially the elderly, Bay was always involved with assisting someone. She received her CNA certificate. Professionally, Ida has provided home health care services to many clients and was employed with Always Home, LLC.

Bay has a genuine love for her childhood neighborhood of Marcus Bottom and those she grew up within the "Bottom" she considered family-they all know who they are. Ida Mae loved to care for others, especially her mother. She loved all of her kids and simply adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bay was a loving sister and loyal friend. All of her family and friends knew that Bay loved them because she demonstrated her affection through her actions. Ida was an avid lover of Bingo and enjoyed a good blues show. Furthermore, she enjoyed spending time with her family members and friends, particularly her children and grandchildren.

God dispatched His angels to guide Ida to His heavenly home on September 14, 2021. Bay was reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death: her husband, Elijah "Happy" Russell; daughter, Vada; father, J. W. Holden; and her brother J. W. Holden.

Fond and loving memories will live eternally in the hearts of Ida's devoted family. She will be remembered by many, but to mourn her passing, Ida Mae Holden Russell leaves her mother, Ida Lee Holden; daughters, Kathy (Rodney) and Kristina; sons, Willie Tyrone and Dewayne (Monique) Holden; nine grandchildren, including Jasmine who she helped to rear; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Classie Holden, Katie (Ed) Smith and Gladys Smith; brothers, Roland, Leon and Henry (Claudia)Holden; nieces and nephews including Richard Smith who she helped to raise; her only surviving uncle, Willie Holden of Michigan; members of the Holden, Thomas, Steward, Russell, Hill and Taylor families; her lifelong friends, Betty and Velma Bailey, Theresa McDaniel Williams, Annie Myles, Vera Well Shorter, Peggy McDaniel Lula Mae McDaniel; ; and a host of cousins, co-workers and friends.
