Carol Ann Young of Anderson, Indiana passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 80.

She was born June 21, 1941 in Columbus, IN to the late Carl and Marybelle Gossman.

Carol graduated from Columbus High School in 1959 and received an associate's degree in accounting from Ivy Tech Community College in 1992. She worked as a bookkeeper, real estate agent, and accountant throughout her career. Carol was an avid golfer and won several amateur championships at Otter Creek golf course in Columbus. She was also an active member of St Peter's Lutheran Church.

She married Thomas E. Crippen formerly of Columbus, IN in 1962 with whom she raised two daughters. One of Carol's greatest joys in life was her grandchildren. She regularly had them over to spend nights and weekends, attended their sporting events and music recitals, and took trips with them.

She moved to Indianapolis in 2012 to be closer to her youngest daughter and grandchildren. Upon moving she became a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and volunteered in the school's library where she took on the role of Miss Carol to the students. She enjoyed reading to the children and the children adored her.

In more recent years, Carol became an accomplished dancer with the Five Star Dance Studio in Indianapolis. She spent much of her time rehearsing and competing in Indianapolis, as well as Nashville, TN and Las Vegas, NV. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend, and Dancing Queen.

She is survived by her daughters Christie Ann Crippen (Hayden Williamson) and Terri J. Newkirk (Scott); grandchildren Samantha Branson (Kurt), Jessica Newkirk (Travis Bristow), Jacob Newkirk, and Olivia Newkirk; great grandchildren Aspen Bristow and Lucille Branson; siblings Marilou Bleecker, Barbara Fairwood, and David Gossman. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Road, Indianapolis, with burial at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN.
