Patrick C. M. Gorman, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in Albuquerque, NM.
Pat was born on August 22, 1944, in Albuquerque to Vincent and Margaret Gorman.
After graduating from St. Pius X High School, he earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of New Mexico and a Ph. D. from the University of Northern Colorado. Patrick retired as Dean of Counseling at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs and enjoyed working as an usher for the Albuquerque Isotopes and UNM athletics in retirement.
Pat was a lifelong learner with a crazy sense of humor who loved sports, playing golf, playing with the kids and reading. Pat never met a stranger and had a real interest in every single person he met. Pat remembered every person's name and all the details he learned about them because he genuinely cared about others. Pat demonstrated daily how to be a good person, be a good neighbor, help your church and community out however you can, and to just be kind. Every day he walked miles and would pick up trash along the way... just because it was the right thing to do.
Above all, Pat loved and thoroughly enjoyed his family.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katie, his four children, Tim, Amy and Joe Ortiz and their three children, Shannon and Chris Vizza and their two children, Darby and Garrick Stride and their three children, his brother, John and his wife, Beverly, and their three children and grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Valerie Gorman and her three children and grandchildren, nieces, Heather Martinelli Morse and Tiffany Martinelli Wagner, sister-in-law, Molly Brack and Craig and their four children and grandson.
Pat was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Vincent and his sister, Barbara Martinelli.
A Memorial Rosary will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m., St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph's Dr. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Ennichment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.
For those who would like to honor Pat's life in a special way, the family is suggesting donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
