Vicki Michel Bowers, 65, formerly of rural Columbia City, was called by the Lord to her heavenly home on September 16, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her sleep while living in Muncie with her husband.
Born on December 5, 1955 in Huntington, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Leist) Michel. Growing up on the Michel farm in Whitley County, she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1974.
On August 22, 1986, she married John W. Bowers. They made their home in Fort Wayne later moving to rural Columbia City.
A self-made professional, she worked a variety of jobs, including a fashion model. She became a paralegal and office manager for Shipley and Associates Law Firm, Fort Wayne. Possessing a brilliant mind, her talents were many particularly her culinary skills. Those who experienced her cooking and baking often remarked she could have been the chef at a top tier restaurant.
She was a loving and tender wife, mother, friend, and grandma. Her home was the gathering place for her family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, John; children, Molly (John Wallahan) Bowers of Indianapolis and Clayton M. Bowers of Muncie; grandchildren Lucas and twins, Zoey & Zeke Crawford; brothers, Dave Michel of Huntertown and Rick (Dawn) Michel of Columbia City and a sister Mury Kaye (Jim) Walters of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by a son Ian Crawford.
A celebration of Vicki's incredible life will be scheduled in May 2022. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
