Benjamin F. Russell
It is with a heavy, saddened heart to announce that Benjamin F. Russell of Emmett, ID, formerly of Garden Valley, ID, has passed away at the age of 52. He took his last breath on earth and his first breath in eternity on September 6th, 2021. He was born to Ben Davis and Joyce Russell (formerly Davis) on October 3rd, 1968, in Kennewick, WA.
Ben spent his younger years in the Tri City, WA area before moving to the Puyallup, WA area for his Junior/Senior High School years. He made his home in Idaho with his first wife Rene and one-year-old daughter, Brianna, in 1994. He accepted Christ and he and his then five-year-old daughter were baptized in the Boise River in 1998.
He was a single dad for five years when God brought him together with Melisa "Missy", a single mom for ten years, and her three children: Joel, Nichole "Niki", and Cory. They were betrothed for about a year and married on May 24th, 2003. During their marriage they had 18 foster children; one named Paula in which they adopted. They went on to be blessed with two more children, Shaylea and Caleb, that they had between them.
During their 18 years of marriage, they lived many places such as: Garden Valley, ID; Horseshoe Bend, ID; Tri Cities, WA; Fruitland, ID; New Plymouth, ID; and back to Garden Valley before finally making their home in Emmett, ID. Throughout this time, they have embraced seven children, eight grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. God has surely blessed their quiver full, and olive branches around their table.
Some of Ben's favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and cookies. Doing these things with his family was a highlight. He was a very hard worker and spent 34 years as a framer/sheetrock/tape and texture tradesman. He also loved building things with his hands, such as sheds, goat houses, and planter boxes. Above everything, Ben loved Yeshua (Jesus) and loved sharing Him with everyone he met. If anyone was in need, he was there for them. His actions showed the love of God.
Ben leaves behind his wife, Melisa "Missy", of 18 years, seven children and their spouses: Joel Meaders and wife Molly; Nichole "Niki"Hyde and husband Mike; Paula HallakBali and husband Jean Pierre "J.P."; Cory Meaders; Brianna Weedop and husband Bruce; Shaylea Russell and Caleb Russell. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Justice, Gage, Leann, Bethany, Clifford, Evalynn, Areli, and Lyra, as well as three step-grandchildren: Jeandeilyz "Chicha", Richard, and Hovan.
Ben also leaves behind his parents Mel and Joyce Russell of Eatonville, WA, and Ben and Cheryl Davis of Kennewick, WA. He leaves behind a brother, Carl Russell and wife Cecila "C.C.", also a sister, Tara Proper and Brian.
He leaves behind a brother-in-law, Bryan Zurrin and wife Jean; a brother-in-law Kevin Zurrin and wife Jennifer; a sister-in-law Ginnie Zurrin Blackner and Keith. He also leaves behind three nephews (later adopted brothers): Cjay, Kyle, and Tyler Russell. He leaves behind his Aunt Linda, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by Father-in-law William "Bill" Zurrin and Mother-in-law Rosemarie "Bunny" Zurrin, brother-in-law William "Billy" Zurrin, and sister-in-law Regina "Regi" Zurrin.
He also leaves behind his much-loved dog Sadie whom he always told, "What a dog!".
Benjamin was the most remarkable husband, father, and grandpa. He will be missed greatly by all who have known him. Eternity has gained one awesome man!
