Mary Lou Taylor, 86 of Kearney and formerly of Elm Creek, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday at the First Christian Church in Elm Creek. The Rev. Scott Foster will officiate. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery.. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
She was born February, 20, 1927 in Lexington to Clarence and Ethel (Frame) Reiter. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1945. Mary Lou as united in marriage to Clarence W. Taylor on Lilac Sunday, May 21, 1950 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. She and Clarence lived in Elm Creek their entire married life, where they farmed. Mary Lou as baptized at the First Christian Church in Elm Creek on April 7, 1956, where she was a lifetime member.
She was a member of the Christian Womens' Fellowship, and the Westside Club. Family was very important to Mary Lou and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed coffee with neighbors, camping, playing cards and going to dances.
Survivors include sons, Randy Taylor and special friend, Barb Richardson, Kenny Taylor and wife, Heather, Gary Taylor and wife, Carol and Kyle Taylor and wife, Joie, daughter, Marlene and husband, Lorry all them of Elm Creek, grandchildren, Heather Anthony and husband, Tim, Sadie Hagemeier and her husband, Paul, Cami Buel and her husband, Scott, Steve Taylor and special friend, Amber Spotanski, Jody Taylor, Coby Taylor and wife, Erin, Sammy Jo Taylor and Robert Managers and Logan Jones; six great-grandchildren, sisters, Charlotte Selk of Lexington and Evelyn Breeden and husband, Jim of Cozad, brother-in-law, Vance Taylor of Omaha and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on October 4, 2011, brother, Lee Reiter, brother-in-law, Virgil Selk, sister-in-law, Mildred Taylor and nephew, Bill Breeden
