Barry Frank Temple, 73 of Shalimar, Florida passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter on Thursday, September 16th after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Barry was born in New Hampton, IA in 1948 to Louis Kirk Temple and Floris Eveyln (Molsberry) Temple.

Barry was married to Prapee (Sawadee) Temple on April 4, 1974 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Barry graduated from Central High School in Souix City in 1966 and then attended Morningside College during which he chose to enlist in the Air Force.

He served in both Vietnam and the first Gulf War (Desert Storm). After his service in the Vietnam War he was stationed in Thailand where he met his wife Prapee at the Siam country club.

Barry and Prapee went on to raise two children Jennifer and Barry II (aka Popeye).

After over 20 years in the Air Force, he retired while stationed at FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne Wy. Barry and Prapee later moved on to Ankeny, IA and finally Shalimar, FL.

During his time in the military, Barry earned numerous awards and honorable mentions for his duties and timed served with Fire and Air Rescue and as Fire Protection Superintendent. He was awarded the AF Commendation Medal, AF Achievement Medal, AF Good Conduct and Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense service Medal, Overseas service long tour ribbon, Vietnam service medal, Outstanding Unit award with Valor, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Barry was a lifelong golfer and loved to spend time playing with friends and family, he especially enjoyed teaching his kids and even grandkids how to golf. He could often be found at the FE Warren Air Force Base golf course Saturday and Sunday mornings placing bets and enjoying his gaggle, if on the rare occasion he wasn't winning he would often press the last few holes and end up winning more often than not when the pressure was on.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, brother L. Kirk Temple, son Barry II.

He is survived by his wife Prapee, daughter Jennifer (Reinhardt)/Jesse, grandchildren Jace Temple Reinhardt and Nora Jean Reinhardt.
