Obituary

Mr. Jack Parker, age 94, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on August 26, 2019. He was born June 13, 1925, to Jesse Wallace and William Lafayette (Bill) Parker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives Louise Bonner Parker and Fairris Walker Reed Parker, and sisters and brothers-in-law Annie and Barney Collins, Angela and Ed Orman Ridley, and Ruby and Ravenel Foster, brother and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Lois Parker, and Lonnie and Virgie Parker.

The defining period of Jack's life was his military service during World War II where he performed the duties of tail gunner on a B-25 Mitchell Medium Range bomber. He was one of only six airmen out of 108 comrades to survive battle action in the Middle East, Italy, and Europe.

Jack is survived by his stepsons, Phil Walker of Jacksonville, AL and Garland Walker and wife Arlene of Locus Grove, GA; and local nieces and nephews who will sorely miss a gentle and loving uncle who was an exemplar of the greatest generation.
