Born July 7, 1976 in Spartanburg, SC, Petey was the son of the late John William Berry, II "Pete" and Ellen Dean Berry. He was a graduate of Broome High School, class of 1995. Petey was a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Deputy and a school resource officer at Drayton Mills Elementary and McCarthy Teszler. He also served many local churches as security. Petey was a member of the Trough Shoals Lodge #228 AFM Pacolet and attended Pacolet Mills Baptist Church.
Petey lived a life of service, to his children, his family, and his community. His helpfulness, generosity, and selflessness extended far beyond the perimeters of his own family and into the lives of others. Petey was a devoted dad and relentlessly loved his children. In his spare time, he could be found racing with Will, or on the softball field with Molly. The legacy he leaves behind is immeasurable and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Allison; his children, Molly and Will, of the home; and his sister, Lesa Gardner (Rodney).
Graveside memorial services will be held Thursday, September 23rd, 11:00AM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
