Dorothy R. "Dotty" (Heaster) Snyder, 74, of Hesston, went to be with the Lord at 6:45 P.M. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at her residence surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 6, 1947 in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Leroy M. and Dorothy L. (McClain) Heaster. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Gibson L. Snyder, Sr. on February 26, 1965, in Huntingdon. Mr. Snyder survives at their Walker Township residence.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by two children, Gibson L. Snyder, Jr. and companion, Renee Romberger, of Hesston, and Denise Cameron and husband, Brian, of Pennsylvania Furnace; and two grandsons, Jason Cameron of State College and Evan Cameron of Pennsylvania Furnace. She is also survived by her siblings, C. Douglas Heaster and wife, Deborah, of Wasilla, AK, S. Mitchell Heaster and wife, Glenette, of Mapleton, Trina P. Grove and husband, Ronald, of Pleasant Hall, and Gregory S. Heaster and wife, Kelli, of Carlisle; sisters-in-law, Judy Burke and husband, David, of Florida, Connie Fisher and husband, Dave, of Lancaster, and Barb Wakefield and husband, Lee, of Hesston; as well as, countless nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eldest brother, R. Martin Heaster.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, McConnellstown, where she served on the financial committee and was a co-founder of establishing a children's church ministry at Trinity UCC. This was one of her proudest achievements and she received much joy from spending time teaching the gospel to the young children at Trinity.

She was a member of the D.A.R., and a previous member of the McConnellstown Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She attended Captain Jack High School where she graduated with the class of 1965.

Mrs. Snyder began her employment at the former Gerbo Shoe Factory, Huntingdon, and subsequently became a daycare provider. She then went to work for Kelly's Korner, Huntingdon, where she spent over 20 years working as a prep cook.

She was an avid reader, quilter, sewer and loved spending time in her beautiful flower beds. She had quite the green thumb and springtime at their home was filled with beautiful colors. Dotty enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her husband and sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Lee; as well as, traveling with family to Pigeon Forge with siblings, Mitch and Glenny. She also enjoyed trying her luck at some of the more local casinos. Her greatest joy was spending time visiting with family and friends, especially her beloved grandsons, Jason and Evan. She attended every sporting event they participated in and enjoyed many trips and journeys along the way.

Friends will be received from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 12006 Station Rd., McConnellstown. A celebration of life service will he held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the church, with Pastor Jack Russell officiating. Interment will be in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon.
