Mr. Thomas Yates, resident of McCrory, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy at the age of 71. Thomas was born in Trumann on March 16, 1950, the son of John Raymond and Katherine (Morelock) Yates.

Thomas and Carol Lee (Crumley) Yates were united in marriage on March 24, 1968, and the couple was blessed with three children, Stacy, Mark, and Jennifer. Thomas worked at Paslode in Augusta, and on towboats on the Mississippi River. He was a member of the McCrory First Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and admiring antique cars.

Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Billy Dean Yates and two infant brothers; and a sister, Opal Yates.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Yates of the home; two sons, Stacy Yates (Christie) of Heber Springs, and Mark Yates of McCrory; a daughter, Jennifer Yates (Stan Stanley) of Augusta; a brother, Johnny Wayne Yates (Deborah) of Vanndale; four sisters, Beatrice McCorkle of Wynne, Katherine Bolden (Robert) of Harrisburg, Roxie McCorkle of Wynne, and Nellie Edwards (Jimmy) of Cherry Valley; six grandchildren, Monica Shields (Sonny) of Alaska, Casey Miller of Heber Springs, Wade Yates of McCrory, Megan Yates of Little Rock, Dillon Miles of Hoxie, and Zoie Preller of Augusta; two great-grandchildren, Brick Shields of Alaska and Brinley Miles of Augusta; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021. Graveside services will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Fair Oaks with Rev. Isaiah Steinbrecher officiating.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert Bolden, Larry Crumley, Dillon Miles, Steven Scott, Stan Stanley, and Todd Whitehead. Honorary pallbearers are David Beshears and Jeff Beshears.
