He was the son of the late Charles and Hazel Hardin Higgins and a was a native of Rutherford County. Leslie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and he was retired from the Rutherfordton Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Margaret H. Higgins. three sons, Gary Higgins and wife Karen, Doug Higgins and wife Heather, and Monte Higgins and wife Shelly, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one cousin, Kay Lail.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 19, 2021, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, with Reverend Rick Wall officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park following the service.
