Kathryn Susan (Mays) Thompson, age 86, passed away Saturday, September 11th, 2021.

She was born on June 12th, 1935 in Watson, West Virginia to Carl and Nola Mays. After graduating high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was assigned to Eglin AFB, Florida. There she met the love of her life, Art Thompson and they were married on September 17th, 1955. After a number of military assignments, she returned to the area in 1970.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Art Thompson of Mary Esther, Florida, her parents, Carl and Nola Mays, brother, Carl Mays Jr., and her sister, Alice Gall. She is survived by her son, Arthur L. Thompson Jr. and his wife Pamela of Mary Esther; daughter Laura L. DuCharme and her husband David of Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming; Grandchildren Brian Thompson and wife Amy Jo of Massachusetts, Cheyenne and Emma Kate of Wyoming; Great-grandchildren Connor and Evelyn Thompson of Massachusetts, Keely and Anna Thompson of California, Austin and Ryan Day of Missouri and Savannah and Parker Thompson of California.

Kathryn loved spending time with family and friends. She also loved taking care of animals of all kinds and was an avid gardener.

An inurnment ceremony will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on October 11th, 2021 at 9:30 AM.
