Barbara was born April 22, 1934 to Hayden Monroe Majors and Nora Alice Bedgood Majors, in Mt. Vernon, TX. She grew up there and made many lifelong friends. She passed away peacefully into her Heavenly Father's arms, surrounded by the love of her family, after a brief battle with cancer.

After graduating high school, she attended TWU in Denton, TX for 1 year before moving to Dallas to work for the Federal Reserve Bank. She married Joel Jones Steed in July, 1953. They were married only 4 years when he passed away after a brief illness. She went to work for the Rock Island Railroad for 16 years, where she advanced to Claims Adjuster. This was in the 1960's, when women wore dresses and heels to work. She told many stories of the challenge of climbing into box cars in her high heels. During that time, she married again and had Joel Max "Joey" and Beth Ann. The marriage didn't last and she lost Joey in a tragic accident at the tender age of 2. She worked hard and put herself through Cosmetology school. She went on to marry Ralph Payne and gained another son, Trey, who she lovingly claimed as her own. After moving to Lewisville, TX in 1969, she got involved in her community and made many friends. She went to work for Grandy's, for a little something to do, where she worked for 13 years, making great friends and wonderful memories. In 1992, she and Beth had the opportunity to have their own restaurant, The Veranda, they enjoyed for 15 years. Together, with the help of countless friends and family, they worked hard to offer an atmosphere that welcomed everyone. She had a true servant's heart, and loved serving people. She was a friend to all she knew, always available to listen and help in any way she could. She loved to make people smile.

In 2007, a little bundle of joy, Grace Ann "Gigi" came into her life. She retired from working and focused on helping to raise her. They have a very close bond. "Gigi" is short for "Granny's Girl", because that is who she has always been. She got involved in all of Gigi's church and school activities and has given her a wonderful foundation for life.

She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age 10 and knew the importance of working with children to show them Christ's Love. She worked for many years in Children's Ministries.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hayden Majors, Nora Majors Birdwell, loving step-dad Rawson Birdwell, son Joel Max "Joey" Blankenship. Our hearts weep for our loss, but rejoice that she is once again reunited with those she has loved so dearly that have gone home before her.

She is survived by her son Trey Payne and wife Deidre, daughter Beth Frasier and husband James; grandchildren Cristina Walke and husband Ryan, Wendy Frasier, Dakota Payne and Gigi Frasier; great-grandchildren Jordan Frasier and fiance Maddie, Jessica Hall, Cristopher Walke and Gracie Walke; great great grandson Watson James Frasier; many close extended family members and friends, including her best friend of over 72 years, Reba Jones.

The family will receive friends gathering for visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds, Lewisville, TX 75057. Graveside service at 3:00 pm at Pine Forest Cemetery in Pine Forest, TX.
