Bill was the loving father of William Powers Jr. and his husband Todd Arnone (Somerset), Ray Powers (Quincy), Tom Powers and his wife Amanda (Topsfield), Matt Powers and his wife Sarah (Winchester) and stepfather to Michelle Bednarczyk and her husband Dan (Charlestown) and Danielle Lane and her husband Paul (Pembroke). He was also a caring grandfather to Sydney, Bennett, Spencer, Marshall, and Luke. He is survived by his significant other Pam Carey and her great-granddaughter Harleigh, his brother Warren, and his sister-in-law Holly. He was predeceased by his father Anthony, his mother Alyce, his brother Raymond, his sister Leslie, and his former wife Carol.
Bill grew up in Quincy, was a graduate of North Quincy High School, and also attended Wentworth and Northeastern.
He spent the last 40 years of his life living in Pembroke as a jack of many trades including mechanic, handyman, and contractor. He will be fondly remembered by friends and family as a sports historian and lover of all creatures great and small. Bill was a collector of friendships and many other things.
The visiting hours will be held Thursday May 13, from 4-7 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Route 53, Hanover. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church), 1 Maquan St., Hanson, at 11 am on Friday May 14. Interment will be at the Center Cemetery in Pembroke.
