Robert E. Colyer I, 84, of Burnham, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Homer and Annabelle (Hartsock) Colyer.

He is survived by his wife, Velva F. (Mahoney) Colyer, whom he married Feb. 18, 1954; children, Robert E. Colyer II and wife, Susan, of Missouri, Bruce A. Colyer and wife, Mary, of Sunbury, Velva Tassa and husband, Paul, of Lewistown, Raymond C. Colyer, of Burnham, Rosanna Briggs and husband, Dennis, of McAlisterville; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Lewistown Moose. He was a member of Nittany Antique Machinery Association and helped at the Decatur fire house in the cookhouse.

Robert served in the United States Air Force and United States Army National Guard and Reserves.

He worked as an independent truck driver. He worked for many companies including Shaffer, Overhead Door, New Cumberland Army Depot, The Gap and lastly, at Zimmerman's Trucking, where he retired.

Robert was family oriented and loved being with his family and going for car rides.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery, with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be made to Valor Program at the Signature Psychiatric Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. or a soldier PTSD program of one's choice.
