Karen Baker, 64, of Englewood, Florida, passed away, on 9/12/2021. She was born in Avon, Indiana on November 15, 1956 to Phil and Wanda Totten. Karen graduated from Indiana University Bloomington. Preceded in death by her father, Phil Totten, and her husbands, Jon Lewis and David Baker. She is survived by son Joe Lewis and his wife Alaina and their daughter Flora, daughter Angie Grube and her husband Josh, mother Wanda Totten, brothers; Mark Totten, Curt Totten, and Brad Totten. Karen worked as an elementary school teacher, teaching kindergarten to fifth grade at Meadow Park Elementary School in Port Charlotte, Florida, for 30 years. She was beloved by coworkers and students. She enjoyed travelling the world with family and friends. Sailing off across the Caribbean: from the Florida Keys, to Cuba, to Costa Rica, and the Bahamas, she was up for any adventure. She was an avid reader, especially of Steven King, loved playing cards with family, and was always excited to see the latest movie. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her granddaughter. Funeral arrangements will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Gulf Pines Memorial Park. The Chapel opens at 10 am for visiting with the family with a celebration of life at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Karen's name to the Mote Marine Laboratory Aquarium at mote.org Her family adores and loves her and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
