Son of Virgil and Emma Broome Sims. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for twenty-five years with Jackson Electric Membership Cooperation as the manager of member services and served briefly as interim CEO. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson and the Baraccas Sunday School Class and a member of the Jefferson Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Hairston and Alice Faye Burrell (b. 29 Dec 1938, Canton, GA - 9 Mar 2020, Hiwassee, GA); and brother Amos Sims. He is survived by his wife, Raynelle White Sims of Jefferson; daughter, Kay Sims Thomas (Marty) of Gainesville; son, Phil Sims (June) of Commerce; grandchildren, Hannah Sims Goolsby (Clifton) of Rock Hill, SC, and Parker Sims (Meagan) of Jefferson; and great grandchildren, Hadley Goolsby, and Harrison and Andie Sims.
