She worked as a corporate graphic designer and retired from JCPenney. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Simpson, William "Red" Ivy, Jr. and Mazona June Starnes; and sisters, Peggy Richey and Linda Ivy. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Barnett of Decatur; daughter, Shelly Barnett Parker and husband, Brent of Arlington; son, Todd Barnett and wife, Heidi of Idaho; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jackson, and Emma; and siblings, James Ivy, Tamisha Alonzo, Bobby Joe Simpson, Michael Simpson, and James Simpson.
