Bernice Dell Best Nichols, age 87, of Forrest City, died Thursday, September 16, 2021, at her home in Forrest City.

Mrs. Nichols was born January 1, 1934, in Kilgore, Texas, and was the daughter of Jim Smith Best and Velma Pearl Clay Best. She was a payroll clerk, a legal secretary, and housewife.

Mrs. Nichols married Freeman Nichols Jr. in 1956, after sixty-five years of marriage, he survives her along with one daughter, Donna Nichols Hobbs, and husband, Thurman, of Maumelle, Arkansas, one son, Keith Nichols of Forrest City, four grandchildren; Tara "Nikki" Madden, Kylie Clark, Kory Nichols, and Hallie Hobbs, eight great-grandchildren; Odom Madden, Carter Madden, Jackson Grant, Will Madden, Lexi Clark, Owen Madden, Ryker Clark, and Ellis Nichols, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She had one child, Kevin Dewayne Nichols, and one great-grandchild, Brett Madden, who preceded her in death.

Honorary Pallbearers are: James Best, Suzanne Best Wyman, John Best, Rene Best, Lisa Best Cummings, Sandra Chalfant Mandrell, and Sherry Chalfant Frazier.
