Dorothy Alice Stayton Hicks (Dottie), 85 of Ocala, FL October 27, 1935 - September 11, 2021, Held closely in the hearts of her children, peacefully passed away this past Saturday after a long illness. Dot was born in Louisville, KY to Jesse Steger Stayton and Martha Alice Hays Stayton. Dorothy was a devoted mother and homemaker raising her family in Florida most of her life. She served her community for many years working at the polls during elections. Dottie and her husband owned and trained harness horses which they enjoyed racing.
Dottie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Ray Hicks. Son, Anthony Ray Hicks (Kelly), sisters, Othel Skees, Beulah Fay Miles, Martha Walls Oldham; brothers, Jesse C and Robert L Stayton. She is survived by her children Terry Lee Hicks, Martha Lela "Marty" Nottingham (Steve) and adored grandson Sean Nottingham (Hannah), brother Roland T Stayton (Barbara), William A Stayton. Dorothy loved all of her extended family and cherished their ties, affectionately called "Aunt Dot" by her twenty nine nieces and nephews
