He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1959, then went on to Oakland City University and graduated with a teaching degree in 1963.
He was teacher at Holland High School for 10 years, where he met the love of his life, Mary L. Woolsey. Ray and Mary were married on July 26, 1975 at Bethel General Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, as they continued to be very involved in the church throughout the years. He left his teaching job at Holland to work as the Secretary/ Admin Assistant for Tecumseh Elementary School, he retired in 2002, after 30 years. Ray enjoyed history. He loved his town, and worked very hard throughout his life to preserve as much Lynnville History as he could, he was a true historian. He compiled and contributed several pieces of history for Warrick and Pike County books, as well as donated items for display to local museums. Ray loved going to plays, shopping for antiques, collecting postcards, and traveling the world with his beloved Mary.
Ray is survived by his wife of 46 years Mary L. Christmas; Sister in law, Ann (Woolsey) Ross; Nieces, Jackie Christmas Aigner and Debra Christmas Avery, along with several Great Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maye and Eugene Christmas, and brothers Billy Gene and Bobby Lee Christmas.
Visitation will be held at Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home on September 21,2021 from 11:00am- 2:00 pm. With Rev. Steve Selby officiating. A graveside funeral service will be at 2:30 pm at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
