Jay DeWayne Hudson, 74, of Muncie, passed away at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born in Portland on Wednesday, June 11, 1947, the son of Everett Eugene Hudson and Marynell (McFarland) Hudson. Jay married the love of his life, Peggy Sosbe, on June 29, 1968, and they celebrated fifty-three years together.

After high school, Jay joined the United States Navy and served his country proudly from 1966 to 1972. He attended Indiana Business College and then Ivy Tech where he received his Associates Degree in HVAC. Jay worked for several businesses in maintenance and heating/cooling, including Lehmans, Marsh, and the Delaware County Justice Center.

Jay was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors to hunt, fish or hike. He was an avid exerciser and enjoyed running and working out. Jay loved his children and grandchildren and spent his time enjoying family gatherings. He also loved the family's pets.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; son, Greg (Amy) Hudson; daughter, Sheri (Joshua) Clevenger; brother, Doug Hudson; grandchildren, Tristan Hudson, Elijah Hudson, Amiah Clevenger, and Jace Clevenger; sister-in-law, Judy Waters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Marynell Hudson; two brothers, Larry Gene Hudson and Kenny Hudson; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Hudson.

Friends and family may call Friday, September 24, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Roberts will officiate. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required as well as social distancing.

Graveside services with Military Honors conducted by the Delaware County Honor Guard will immediately follow at Tomlinson Cemetery, 5301 South Old State Road 67, Muncie, Indiana 47302.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: Cowan Fire Department, 9407 South Olive Street, Muncie, Indiana 47302.
