Troy Elbert Davis, age 83, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Doug Gaskey, Chaplain with Kindred Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Olney, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Troy was born on October 20, 1937 in Wichita County, Texas to the late Elbert Doc Davis and Nora Mae (Evans) Davis. He was lifetime resident of Archer County and had worked in the oilfield. He married Charlene Downing on March 6, 1958 in Olney, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2004. Troy liked to fish and enjoyed working in his shop. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four sisters, Beverly Meeks, Mattie Davis, Gail Chartier and Lisa Kenny.
Troy is survived by two daughters, Darlene Davis of Wichita Falls, Texas and Cat Smith of Bismarck, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Michael Townsend of Henrietta, Texas, Marlene Baxter of Sentinel, Oklahoma and Danelle Thomas of Ft. Worth, Texas; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Bowen and Alice Towery both of Wichita Falls, Texas; and three brothers, Johnny Davis of Henrietta, Texas, Warren Davis of California and Larry Davis of Texas.
