ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Peggy Williams Leonard, 81, passed away May 3, 2007, after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Leonard; her only son, Joe "Joey" Leonard Jr.; and granddaughter, Charleye Leonard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Walter P. Williams; sisters, Alice Smith, Ollie Blitch, Louise Mack and Betty King; and brothers, John Williams, Bill Williams, Fred Williams and Jake Williams.
Born and raised in Bulloch County, Ga., she graduated from Stilson Georgia High School class of '43. After graduation, she went to work for Old Liberty Bank in Savannah as a bookkeeper and also worked at the Savannah Georgia Gas Company.
Joe and Peggy attended many Stilson Athletic Club Basketball games during the 40s and 50s. Stilson had an outstanding team and won many games and tournaments in the Savannah area.
A memorial service will be held at the Ole Fellowship Baptist Church in Stilson on Saturday, May 19, at 3 p.m.
