Stephen Buford Gregory, age 70 years of Lake City, FL passed away on Monday September 13, 2021 with his beloved wife Debbie by his side.

Steve, as he was known by all, was born on October 31, 1950 in Seattle, WA. As a boy he lived in numerous places, but finally as a teen settled with his family in the great state of Texas. As a very young man he learned to work hard on farms and ranches, taking care of horses and cattle and handling tractors and old farm trucks. He joined the Army in 1969 and served 2 tours in Vietnam where he specialized in Transportation and was an Expert Marksman. In 1973, he met the love of his life, Debbie Cole, while cruising main street in his new Plymouth Barracuda. Mom fell in love with the car first, the driver next as she says it! Even before marriage, Dad was already trucking and he never turned back, driving millions of miles over the next 50 plus years; just like a cowboy, he loved the open range, beautiful scenery and seeing new views every day. The early times were challenging; Dad and mom made a lot of sacrifices, especially their time together because of Dad's travels. Dad did the trucking, mom raised us kids, and we all knew it was big deal when Dad came home. That never changed as his kids got older and had families of their own. This family's most cherished memories are those of when Dad would come off the road, it felt like the holidays every time. The most precious sight in Dad's eyes was when his family was all gathered for his return with our big family meals, numerous warm hugs and so much laughing. He was the strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a loving husband, a good father who always took care of his children, a loving grandfather who did the best he could to teach and guide them, and of course a "grandpa" to many others. A man who never cared much about himself, Steve was a strong, proud and good man. He is so loved and will be missed by countless many!

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Gregory & Gladys Kaelin; his sister Linda Darnell and brother Jimmy Gregory. He is survived by his sister Debbie Wallace and his brother Butch Kaelin, both of South Carolina.

Mr. Gregory is survived by loving wife, Debbie Gregory of Lake City, FL; his children, Shannon Gregory (Sara) of Lake City, FL, Kevin Gregory of Virginia, and Brandi Linton (David) of Franklin, TN; a total of 12 grandchildren - Kirby Gregory, Kasey Gregory, Suzanna Harrell (Austyn), Kyle Gregory, Cameron Gregory, Charles Linton, Paul Gregory, Carson Gregory, Sibyl Gregory, Ava Linton, Colton Gregory and Livian Gregory, and 1 great-grand son Asher Harrell; and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives.
