John Scott Joseph Kearney, 73 years old of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late William and Suzanne (nèe Reber) . On August 15, 1970, John married Jo Anne Richey at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wilmette, IL. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was known as a "Rice Paddy Daddy" for his ability to drive a tank. John was a hardworking man who loved his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his children, Scott (Heather) Kearney and Jessie Kearney; his grandchildren, Jacob, Anna, and Hendrix Kearney, Devan and Gracie Marcomb, Payten Collins; his siblings, Suzanne Kearney, Kathy Murray, Greg (Diana) Kearney, Robert Kearney, Elizabeth Kearney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Kearney.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services commencing at 1:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St., Antioch, IL 60002. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow in Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek, IL. For additional information, call 847-395-4000.
